In a total solar eclipse close to sunset, silhouetted Moon and Sun hugged the western horizon, seen here above the Andes mountains near the continent’s southern tip. The Passo dello Stelvio, located in Italy, at 2757 m (9045 feet) is the highest paved mountain pass in the Eastern Alps.
