The Lochnagar mine crater on the 1916 Somme battlefields in France is the largest man-made mine crater created in the First World War on the Western Front. It was laid by the British Army’s 179th Tunnelling Company Royal Engineers underneath a German strongpoint called “Schwaben Hohe”. Seljalandsfoss is one of the most famous waterfalls of Iceland. It is a pretty famous waterfall dropping about 60m over the cliffs of the former coastline. Upstream the river flows through Troll Gorge to Troll Gorge Marsh, a lovely hollow with flourishing vegetation, before tumbling down over a series of waterfalls, and finally off the cliff edge at Seljalandsfoss.
